Kaixin woke up early, his heart full of excitement. Today he would travel to Meihua Temple to learn kung fu.
The road twisted through green hills and blossoming trees. At the big red gate he took a deep breath. Inside were the training yard and rows of wooden posts, but no one to greet him.
Sitting under a plum tree, Kaixin watched the petals dance in the wind and remembered the moves he had seen. He stood up and copied the way they floated and spun. Step by step, he practised, calm and strong. As the sun set, he bowed to the temple. His kung fu journey had begun.
